Seed Exchange Forum

Although I started seed collecting last year, I have recently been re-inspired by Colleen over at In The Garden Online who has come up with the idea of garden bloggers exchanging seeds they collect from the plants and flowers in their gardens. Colleen has been very busy and has created a fantastic seed exchange forum which is currently set up for gardenbloggers in the US, Canada and the UK who wish to exchange seeds. Photo Hunt : Theme Happy

Hatty the hen Birthday cake!Hatty the Hen

Happy Birthday to you,

Happy Birthday to you,

Happy Birthday dear Luke,

Happy Birthday to you!

Last week it was my nephew’s third birthday and I thought that I would share the cake that I made for him. Luke and I love Hatty the hen and she makes us both very happy. Luke has even adopted Hatty which was his birthday gift on his second birthday.

Obviously it is very hard to tell which photograph is the “happy” or is it “hatty” birthday cake as I did such a fantastic job of shaping and icing the cake! So if your not sure the cake is on the left and Hatty the hen is on the right!

A Pig’s Tail

A Pig's Tail

  • A pig’s tail is often curled.
  • A highly curled pig’s tail is said to be a sign of a healthy, happy pig. (Cagney is definately healthy and happy then - that is her tail above!)
  • In early life a pig’s tail is sometimes docked (cut off).
  • Pig’s tails are sometimes docked to prevent other pigs from biting the tail off.

A Vegetable Portrait

This morning Charlotte and Freddie from The Great Big Vegetable Challenge asked if anyone would like to create a face using vegetables.

Guest Appearance -Feeding The Cows By Alice

I recently stumbled upon a lovely website called A Growing Delight and was really interested to learn that Alice had grown up on a dairy farm in Australia. Over the last few weeks Alice has very kindly sent me a photograph of some Australian cows for my farmingfriends ‘foto’ of the month competition and is always leaving farming related comments that are very interesting. I read on her site that she recently found a “hidden treasure” of old photographs of her days on the farm and this has rekindled her memories of farming times gone by. The story you are about to read was written by Alice a couple of years ago but the story actually took place 56 years ago. So if you are sitting comfortably I will let Alice transport you back to the milking parlour of 1951……………. (more…)
