A Walk By The Canal - Green Thumb Sunday
I thought I would share the stroll down by the canal that my husband and I managed to share last weekend in between the busy farming schedule my husband has at the moment.
So come take a walk with me down by the canal and let’s see what we can see……
….I hope you enjoyed your stroll along the canal.

Thanks for the walk, Sara! I love the water and foliage and of course the wild flowers! The closeup with the moss on the wall is lovely. So glad we can enlarge your pictures now.

Hi Jean, Glad you had a stroll and enjoyed the walk. it’s just a shame we can’t stroll along together. Yes the pictures look good when they are enlarged. It will be interesting to revisit as the countryside changes with Autumn.

Sara it would be nice if you shared the location with us so that we could look the canal up on a map.
I live in Harrogate, and often travel to my daughter who lives near Leeds and is very near to the Leeds and Liverpool canal, I have often walked on the tow path, also when I was a young boy I lived within a mile of the canal at a place named Eccleshill, and remember the horses towing the Barges full of coal and all kinds of commodities, it is so nice of you to share your experiences with us, and I also give your husband top marks as a busy farmer for accompanying you. liked the photo of the moor hen

Hi John,
Thanks for your compliments and comments. The canal is the Pocklington canal but I am not sure which lock it is. It was great to see the moorhen.

Hi Sara, The photographs are lovely. The colours of the flowers look even better when the photo is enlarged. It’s nice to find somewhere pleasant to stroll in the country - and you’ve found a lovely place. Look forward to more photos. Trisha

Hi Trisha, Thanks for dropping by and strolling along the canal with me. I am glad you like the pictures. You’ll have to come and visit for real. I hope you liked the moorhen picture.

Is the canal natural or manmade? It’s quite nice, almost like a meandering stream. Thanks for sharing.

Hi Aiyana,
The canal is manmade. When the sun is shining and the sky is bright blue it is even more beautiful. Thanks for visiting and commenting.

Nice one Sara, Canals are great places, usually nice and peaceful, had a great holiday on the Kennrt and Avon a few years ago.

How very beautiful! I can only imagine what that view must have been like in person. Your images of the lock remind of the scene in Our Mutual Friend (BBC miniseries).

Hi Sara,
Beautiful walk along the canal. All the photographs are beautiful but the canal lock and bridge was a particular treat for me. Take care, Carver

Hi Sara, I am so pleased you managed a bit of ‘me’ time for you both at the weekend, I know only too well that farming can more often than not be a 24 hour a day commitment. You took some lovely photos while you were down there, which canal were you walking along?
Comment by LOUISE — September 18, 2007 @ 6:25 pm
Sorry i am so late in visiting! Its nearly GTS again.
