Apples In The Orchard - Green Thumb Sunday
We have a beautiful old cooking apple tree in our orchard and at this time of year it is laden with apples.
This photograph of the apples on the tree is one of my favourite photographs.
I will be using these apples to make apple crumble - my favourite, but what is your favourite apple recipe?

My favourite has to be baked stuffed apples. Just take the core out and fill the space with a mixture of sultanas, butter, cinnamon and brown sugar. Bake at about 350 for half an hour(depending on the size of the apple). Yummy with creme fraiche. Happy GTS

Pretty apple photo. I’m no cook, but I did learn to bake a wonderful apple pie in HS Home Ec. I do it every 10-15 years!
Happy GTS,

I don’t really think you can beat an apple crumble, I love it with either hot custard or extra thick cream! I do love a dollop of apple sauce on my pork chop too!
Comment by THIS IS MY PATCH — October 7, 2007 @ 6:32 am
Hi This is my patch,
I like it with either ice-cream, cream or custard - yum, yum! Yes apple sauce is great too and I make a cider and cheese chops which has apples in it. Thanks for visiting and commenting.

We had loads of beautiful Granny Smith apples this year (I had a posting about them with photo of all the bottles) but I don’t have a real favourite. I really love stewed apples and cream though.

Hi Alice,
What an interesting comment - I will check out your post. Stewed apples seems to be popular.

Yum, apple crumble .. I can smell it and almost taste it. This is our Thanksgiving Sunday so there will be lots of delicious food to eat, including apple pie.

Hi Sara! I love that photo. Crisp apples epitomize fall. I was just at the orchard yesterday to get some Galas. Wish I had a tree of my own! Favorite recipe? Apple crumb pie!

You photo made me happy.
It’s apple season, yeah.
My husband and my kids love apple pie, so that’s what I make.
My mom used to make wonderful apple sauce and apple butter.
Two more things I miss about my mom.

I would say your recipe is my current favourite…..

I think apple cake (very moist) is my fav, with cream cheese icing! Or maybe some stewed apples with brown sugar over top! Leave it to me to pick the most fattening thing, tho! LOL.
Happy GTS!

Beautiful lighting on the apples. I only wish I could see the photo at full-size. I clicked on the thumbnail and it did enlarge, but I wish it was bigger. Happy GTS.

Lovely picture! I like apple crisp and I also make a pretty good apple salsa…yum!
I think I’m going to have to go to the farm down the street and get some apples now!!!

Hi sara, what a lovely photo of an apple. I’ve just been cooking some apples today. My favourite is stewed apple with icecream. I think pastry and crumble can hide the apple taste. So I just simmer the apple for a few minutes in a little water, let it cool, top it with ice cream and then eat it.
The warm apple mingling with the cold ice cream, and the apple juice is really tasty. Trisha.

Been a long time since I’ve had apple trees. Grandpa used to make homemade applesauce (still can’t eat store-bought!). very nice!

Mmmm! I just had a lovely crisp apple at lunch today (a Braeburn, I think). Yours looks lovey!

I am not a pie maker. I have made a few pies but nothing with apples. Unless you count those pies in the store freezer.
When you get around to making that crumble, would you mind sharing the recipe.
Sounds good! I might have enough apples on my tree to make one.

apple crisp would be my fave, is that the same as apple crumble? (oatmeal/flour/sugar/cinnamon/butter topping?)
