Blogging For Positive Global Change Award

Blogging For Positive Global Change Award

On Monday when I arrived home from teaching, I switched the computer on to find that Charlotte Hume, the writer of The Great Big Vegetable Challenge, had nominated me for a Blogging For Positive Global Change Award.

The award was originally created by Climate of Our Future to recognise bloggers who “are trying to build awareness among their readership in order to create a more sustainable and enlightened future.”

I was shocked, surprised and deeply honoured that my Farming Friends website has been thought of as having a positive impact on it’s readers. I am particularly proud that The Great Big Vegetable Challenge has nominated me as I really admire this inspirational website and the journey Charlotte, Alexandra and Freddie are on as they explore the A to Z of vegetables in a fun and interesting way.

Now it’s my turn to nominate five blogs that I think are making a difference.

1) Peakfood - A thought provoking website by John Gossop and Leanne Wilcox who are raising awareness about climate change and the threats to Western farming.

2) TopVeg - A top site full of top tips about how to grow your own fruit and vegetables in a garden, allotment or windowbox. Start growing your own veggies today and help to reduce those food miles.

3) Plan be - An interesting blog that chronicles one family’s adventures in self-sufficient living on a smallholding designed and built by themselves in the South Cape region of South Africa.

4) Locks Park Farm - A great website that depicts life on a small organic farm in Devon. Paula set up this blog with the help of The Campaign To Protect Rural England in order to share views on farming and the countryside.

5) Simple Living, Simplify + Reduce - An inspirational website that has launched a project to help readers to reduce their emissions by 90%.

Should they wish, nominees may now proudly display the Blogging for Positive Global Change badge on their blogs. If any nominees have someone in mind that they’d like to nominate in turn, just be sure to pass this list of rules to the blogs you are tagging.

The participation rules are simple:
1. When you get tagged, write a post with links to up to 5 blogs that you think are trying to change the world in a positive way.
2. In your post, make sure you link back to this post so that people can easily find the exact origin of the meme.
3. Leave a comment or message for the bloggers you’re tagging, so they know they’re now part of the meme.
4. Optional: Proudly display the “Bloggers For Positive Global Change” award badge with a link to the post that you write up.

  1. Sarah, I’m stunned, speechless and honoured! Thank you so much.

I’m rather new and green to all this though and I don’t have enough knowledge yet to nominate five other sites – in fact I don’t know that many! So I’m afraid that I can’t comply with the rules. Will this matter?

Again thank you…I feel quite humbled.
    Best wishes
    Paula

  2. Hi Paula,
I’m so glad that you are pleased with the award. I think that we share a common interest in sharing our farming lives with the world. I love reading all about your farm and I think it’s great that you want to raise awareness of farming with the public.
I felt exactly like you when I received this award as I haven’t been blogging that long either.
You can nominate up to 5 sites so if you only nominate one or two then that’s fine.
I am thrilled that you are pleased.
    Best Wishes
    Sara

I am so glad that you like the award. Your advice and support for the vegetable grower is excellent and your website will definately make it easier for more people to grow their own produce.

  7. Sara,

Thanks so much for the nomination; forgive me for taking so long to find out about it — I’ve been out of touch for some days, not to mention being a bit slow at the best of times. :-)
