Not a good time of year for calving, but such a beautiful wee heifer. I think one of the things I miss most is the calving - cows are such caring people. I cared for my landlord's free-range herd. We named all the cows and the heifer calves. The bull calves had the same name each year, as they were bound for market. We too had identity photos - the locals thought we were crazy!

Hi BoggyWoggy,
Thanks for dropping by and commenting. Yes the calf is beautiful. Yes I do try to name the cattle but they have to be names that I can associate with the animal, although we do now have a book with all the cows details and a photo in so we can put a face to a name!
