Photograph Of The Month Competition - A Piggy Entry

The piggy photograph I received via email for my December photograph of the month competition really made me laugh - what a great entry from Rebecca @ Irish Sally Garden.

Full Irish Breakfast These are Rebecca’s two gloucestershire old spot pigs. They are 5 months old and very heavy! Rebecca knows that because one of them stood on her foot yesterday. She told me that she is going to ask santa for steel toe cap boots! These pigs are two organically reared, rare breed lads free ranging in part of their oak woods. They are big softies, they love to roll over to have their tummies rubbed.

Winter Fungi

Here is Jane’s Photo of the Month offering for December. It is of some gorgeous fungi taken a couple of weeks ago in a local wood in Corfe Mullen, Dorset. Jane said, “I just loved the way it was so creamy white and knobbly, contrasted against the red/brown winter leaves on the ground.”
Thanks Jane this is a real fungi treat!

November’s Photograph Of The Month Competition Winner

The winner of the Farming Friends “Foto” of the Month Competition for November is Marian, a gift will be on it’s way to you very soon. Thanks for making us laugh.
The Laughing HorseMarian took this photograph of the laughing horse back in July at Gigrin Farm, Wales. She said in her email that, ”This horse made me laugh so much I could hardly keep the camera still to take the picture. It still brings a smile to my face every time I look at it, Hope it has the same effect on your viewers.”

I’m sure it will Marian - what a fabulous photograph. A great photo opportunity taken!

The photograph competition judge would also like to award Paula second place in the photograph competition as the judge felt that it was a close call.

Dartmoor Whiteface Sheep

This photograph was taken on a cold morning in late October by Paula from Locks Park Farm. The sheep are Dartmoor Whiteface sheep.

Farming Friends would also like to thank the following for their entries - the judge said it was hard to choose:

Autumn Sky

This photograph of the beautiful Autumnal sky was sent in by Libby from Woodlands World, so thanks Libby.

Squirrel helping to tidy up the Autumn leaves on the lawn. This photograph was taken recently whilst the TopVeg team were tidying up the Autumn leaves from the lawn. Can you spot the helper?

Yes it is a grey squirrel helping to tidy up the Autumn leaves.

Sunset at Pardy's HillThis photograph was taken by Jane @ Urban Extension from the top of Pardy’s Hill, which is in the centre of Corfe Mullen, Dorset (Jane’s village). Jane told me that, “Unfortunately this view will disappear if the Government have their way. Although this land is Green Belt, it has now been earmarked for development and will probably see 700 houses built on it in the next few years. I thought I’d better take this picture before the tree disappeared, and to remind me to keep on fighting for it’s survival.” Jane, I hope that this land does not become developed as it looks beautiful and I am sure is home to much wildlife. The picture was taken by Jane, at about 5pm on a chilly November evening when she was coming home from Tesco’s!

Ella Feeding The Goat

This photograph was taken by Diane from Vancouver Island in Canada and you can see Ella feeding the goat. What a lucky goat to have such a lovely feeder. The goat is called Hey babe.
