Deer Spotting

On Wednesday a deer was spotted down the lane by my godsons and myself. I don’t know who was more thrilled - I think possibly me! This is only the second time I have ever seen a roe deer and it is the first time I have just stumbled upon a deer whilst walking down the lane.

The deer was a young roe deer who was walking through the field. Although we were some distance away we had a clear view of the deer and it had a clear view of us. Every once in a while the deer would stop and look in our direction. The deer had a beautiful red coat which is it’s Summer coat. Click on this link for more information about the roe deer.

I did not have my camera so I couldn’t take a photograph of this beautiful creature but check out the lovely deer photograph sent in by Sally from Sunk Island on the photograph competitions page.

  1. Thank you Sara for your nomination, although I am not sure what it entails.
Please to hear that you have finished Harvest, you must have had a struggle.
This weather made me think back to the forties when we used to make hay by hand, I don’t think we would have made much good hay in a year like this.
    Kind regards John
PS posted here because email That I tried to return failed

  2. Hi John,
I am glad that you are pleased about your nomination. I think what normall happens is you write a post about the Nice matters Award saying who nominated you and then you nominate some other people. Then you copy the award logo and place it in your sidebar so that everyone can see that you have been awarded this award - if you want to that is.
Yes it was great news when we got the grain in and we now think we have sold the oilseed rape and the wheat for a good price - yeah!
I love hearing all your farming memories and looking at your black and white photographs on your site. Your memories are so interesting. Thanks for sharing them with me and my readers. Maybe you could do a guest appearance on my site telling a story of farming days goneby with a link to your site. Let me know what you think.
