As a school teacher and a farmer’s wife, I often have to contemplate the meaning of harvest festival, as the Autumn approaches. The scary thing I have found is that children (at the school I work in at least!) do not understand the meaning of harvest, despite having a harvest festival every year. So I pose the question;
What do you think the true meaning of harvest festival is?

Harvest Harvest Festival
My best guess would be that the farming community gets together for a festival after harvesting all the crops…I imagine everyone would contribute food, and there would be music and merriment! A happy time when all the hard work is over.

Hi Julie,
Thanks for this excellent response. I think this is what happened in years goneby. Now there are church services to thank God for the harvest as well.
