Hatty The Hen

Hatty The HenHatty The Cool ChickHatty The HenHatty The Hen

Hatty the hen is my White Leghorn chicken. She is about 3 years old and she was given to me by one of our kind neighbours along with Hetty in 2004. Unfortunately Hetty is no longer with us but Hatty has befriended the flock of guinea fowl and when she isn’t finding somewhere new to lay her white eggs, she can be seen running around the farm yard with Charlie, Camilla and Diana the guinea fowl.

Here is a video clip of Hatty pecking her way across the garden.

Hatty The Hen By Nicki Aged 7At a family gathering recently, my niece thrust a piece of paper in my hand saying that this was Hatty the hen. Not only has this lovely hen touched my heart but that of my niece too. Here is the lovely picture my niece drew. I love this drawing.

Now having looked at the photographs and video clip of Hatty, I challenge you to have a go at drawing Hatty the hen. I would love to see your pictures so take a photo of your drawing or scan it into your computer and email the Hatty portrait over to me with your name and age, if a child has drawn the picture. Here is my attempt!

Hatty The Hen By Sara I’m sure you can all do better, so pick up that pencil, crayon, chalk or paint today and create a Hatty portrait!

  1. Looks like she is a friendly hen at that.

I wanted chickens at our house when My wife and I moved in. No they stink. Regardless of me trying to talk her into the idea. NO. Oh well.

My dad had chickens when we were kids. And a Rooster, we won’t talk about the rooster. Let me just say he was mean.

I have tagged you for a You think You know Me post. Its just a little meme going around. If you want to participate just link to me and write a few facts about yourself. Then tag seven people.I am only tagging five.

  2. Hi Curtis,
Yes hatty is friendly and inquisitive!
The rooster sounded mean. I only have male guinea fowl on the farm and they like to square up at you and then run off. It is not scarey!!! Although all five cats are afraid of the guinea fowl!!!
Thank you so much for tagging me it will be an honour to do a few facts. I will link them to my time on the farm to relate them to my theme, so I will need to give it some thought. I will let you know when I have posted!
Thanks for dropping by and commenting.

  12. She is so lovely! and so clean!! My white hen Blanche- is always grubby!! She is, I am sure, a reincarnated ten yesr old boy!! Blanche likes an adventure, always scrambling over this or under that, and is always dusty and dirty as a result! But she is a happy hen, so I dont really mind! (She wouldnt win any rosettes though!!)

  13. Hi Leanne,
This must be one of hatty’s clean moments when she had not just had a dust/soil bath!!! Thanks for telling me all about your hen - maybe you would like to sen me a picture of your hen so that I can add it to a reader’s poultry gallery! Hen’s don’t have to be beautiful as long as they are happy, content and fun to be around.
Thanks for your comments and your visit.
