Last year I started collecting seeds from my garden and have successfully grown sunflowers, marigolds and aquilegia from my own seeds. Over the last couple of weeks I have been busy collecting more seeds.
I have collected the seeds of the following plants;
- Aquilegia (latin name) - Columbine. Purple and Pink varieties.
- Dianthus (latin name) - Rockery pink. White variety.
- Nigella (latin name) - Love in a mist. Light blue variety.
- Primula japonica (latin name) - Candelabra Primrose. Yellow variety.
- Primula variabilis (latin name) - Polyanthus.Yellow and red varieties.
- Viola (latin name) - Pansy. Mixed colours.
- Helianthus (latin name) - Sunflower. Yellow and ruby eclipse.
Last year I started to make my own seed packets so that I could give the seeds I collected as gifts to friends and family. This year I am going to take part in a gardenbloggers seed exchange so I will be very busy making my homemade seed packets.

It’s such a thrill and the cheapest way possible to propogate plants from you own collected seeds. I hope your new venture really takes off, although of course there are restrictions on importing seeds in many countries.
I’m working on another story for you, too. I could have sent you ‘Mrs Dimwhitty’ had I not posted it already.

I am always collecting seeds and either trading them or giving them away. For just the price of a postage stamp you can enjoy lovely flowers and start a Friendship Garden.
I have a blog devoted to seed identification. I’m continually working on it.

It’s always nice to collect and share seeds. It’s like spreading beauty around. We always collect seeds for the MG annual Fall Festival. It makes money for the MG org. and gives folks a way to acquire cheap seeds.

Hi Sara,
Love the seed packets and a great idea to do it like that for friends and family. Looks like i have made a mistake about offering the corncockle all over the world.

Hi everyone,
I am sorry that I have not replied individually to all your comment but I was a little under the weather over the bank holiday weekend - typical! This morning I also started this comment and reply to all your individual comments and the computer crashed and I lost my mammouth comment. So I will just say thank you very much for all your compliments about my flowers and seed packets. I enjoyed sharing them with you.
Thank again and see you next GTS!
