Wheat Harvest Finished

Wheat in field

The wheat has been successfully harvested this year and the grain is safely stored in the new grain store.

Wheat in storage

It has been reported that the yields are down nationally, but our wheat yields are reasonable this year, although there is a problem with the straw staying green.

  1. glad you have a harvest in safe and sound. I think hay prices are going to be a bit mad this winter.

  2. Hi Claire,
Thanks for your kind words. It is a relief to have the grain safely harvested. Our potatoes will be a different story!

  3. They’ve been making ‘haylage’ round my mother’s place because the grass is too wet. What a crazy season it’s been!

  4. Hi Soilman,
The weather has made the harvest very difficult. At first we had hot weather in April which made the crops grow and then rain, rain and more rain which meant we couldn’t get the combine into the field without getting it stuck! This year has been very difficult.
